Gatwick breaks the 35 million barrier

BAA Gatwick handled 132,964 more passengers in November this year compared to the same month last year, an increase of 6.2%. The BAA Group of seven UK airports saw an overall increase of 1.5% in passenger traffic during the month (year-on-year). In the twelve months to the end of November 2007, Gatwick Airport handled over 35 million passengers for the first time. November saw an increase of 15.4% in passengers travelling to and from the Republic of Ireland and an increase in longhaul passengers (outside the North Atlantic) of 11.7%. North Atlantic passengers increased by 5.6%. (All figures November 2007 compared with November 2006). “Gatwick’s continued steady growth shows the popularity of the airport with our airlines and with our passengers,” Andy Flower, Managing Director BAA Gatwick said. “Our passengers have an ever increasing choice of routes as well as enjoying our excellent and improving facilities and superb transport links to Central London and the rest of Southern England.” In all 2,152,716 travelled through the airport in November 2007.
